Privacy Policy

Last updated May 23, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains what information Voltive collects, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. We try to keep things short and human — if anything is unclear, email us at privacy@voltive.dev.

1. What we collect

We collect three kinds of information.

Information you give us. Email address, username, display name, password (stored hashed, never in plain text), profile picture, bio, channel name, and anything you type into chat, stream titles, alert messages, or report forms. If you go live, we also process the video and audio you broadcast.

Information collected automatically. Basic technical data such as IP address, device and browser type, the pages you view, the streams you open, follows, watch time, chat activity, and how you interact with the discovery feed. We use this data to operate the Service, rank streams fairly, prevent abuse, and debug issues.

Information from others. Reports submitted about you, content from third-party sign-in providers if you use them, and information from payment processors if and when paid features launch.

2. How we use your information

  • Run the platform — sign you in, deliver streams and chat, send alerts.
  • Personalize and rank discovery so smaller and fresher streams can be found.
  • Keep Voltive safe — detect spam, abuse, and security incidents.
  • Investigate reports and enforce our Terms and Community Guidelines.
  • Improve features, fix bugs, and measure how the Service is performing.
  • Send transactional emails — for example password resets or moderation notices.
  • Comply with legal obligations and respond to lawful requests.

3. What is public on Voltive

By design, the following is visible to anyone on the internet: your username, display name, profile picture, bio, channel page, follower count, the streams you publish, chat messages you send, and overlays you display on stream. Don't put anything here you don't want associated with you.

Your stream key, email address, password hash, and account settings are private and only visible to you (and to Voltive staff for support and safety reasons).

4. Cookies and similar technologies

We use a session cookie to keep you logged in. We may use a small number of additional cookies or local-storage entries to remember preferences (for example, chat input drafts or last-watched channel) and to keep the Service secure. We do not run third-party advertising trackers.

5. How we share information

We don't sell your personal information. We share it only when:

  • You make it public — for example through your profile, streams, or chat messages.
  • We use trusted vendorsto run the Service, like our hosting provider, database, media server, analytics tools, and (eventually) payment processors. They get only what they need, are bound by confidentiality, and can't use the data for their own purposes.
  • The law requires it— for example to comply with a valid court order, subpoena, or law-enforcement request, or to protect our rights, our users' safety, or the public.
  • There is a business transfer— if Voltive is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, we'll let you know before your information becomes subject to a different privacy policy.

6. How long we keep information

We keep your account information for as long as your account exists. Some operational data — moderation actions, audit logs, abuse signals — is kept for up to seven years so we can investigate repeat issues and meet legal obligations. Backups are rotated regularly and may briefly retain deleted data after you remove it.

7. Your rights and choices

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you.
  • Correct information that is inaccurate or out of date.
  • Delete your account and most associated data.
  • Export a copy of certain data in a portable format.
  • Object to or restrict certain uses of your information.
  • Withdraw consent where we relied on it for processing.
  • Lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority (residents of the EEA, UK, and similar regions).

You can use most of these rights directly through your account settings, or by emailing privacy@voltive.dev. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.

8. How we protect your information

We hash passwords with bcrypt, transmit data over TLS, scope database access to the minimum necessary, and keep audit trails of admin actions. No system is 100% secure, so please use a strong, unique password and tell us right away if you suspect your account has been compromised.

9. Children

Voltive is not directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we'll delete it.

10. International users

Voltive is operated from the United States. If you use Voltive from another country, your information will be transferred to and processed in the U.S. and any country where our service providers operate. We rely on standard contractual clauses and other lawful mechanisms when those transfers are required by law.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when we add features, change vendors, or receive feedback. The "Last updated" date at the top of the page always shows when this version took effect. If we make material changes, we'll give you notice through the Service or by email before the changes take effect.

12. Contact us
